The Location

Hale Malu Guesthouse is located on the west side of Molokai at Kalae near Kalaupapa Lookout, 1500' above sea level. It overlooks the surf crashing against the Moomomi sea cliffs. The area, 8 miles north of Kaunakakai Town and 2 miles east of the Kualapuu coffee plantation, is cool, lush and green.

The people here are wonderful and the aloha spirit abounds. This will truly be a vacation to remember!!

Your Hosts - Richard and Ilima

Richard moved to Molokai from Oregon 12 years ago. Ilima, originally from Germany, lived on Vancouver Island for 45 years where she operated a bed and breakfast in Victoria B.C. during the summer months.

Spending winters in Hawaii and deeply impressed by the beauty and friendliness of Molokai, Ilima moved here in 2001 and married Richard. She paints watercolors of Molokai scenes while Richard explores the forest on his A.T.V.

Their joy is to share the beauty of nature with their guests.
